If you need assistance or a rule clarification, please contact your Event Coordinator. Their contact information is on your Judge's Dashboard.
Disqualifications are only meant to be used when a Go/No Go item is missing. Please do not disqualify an entry for a Rule Violation. If you toggle the "Answer is Yes/An switch, you will need to click "Default all to Zero" to enter zeros for all rubric items before you can SAVE the rubric and move on.
Rule Violations - Any violation of the rules.
Some rules make reference to a student ID number needing to be written on the portfolio. We DO NOT require this because our EMS automatically generates the PID number that you will use to judge. Do not enter a violation for a missing student ID/entry number.
The EMS calculates the violation percentage, you do NOT have to deduct points for a violation.
Missing Rubric Requirements - If a student is missing an entire section of the rubric, give them a score of 0 (zero) on that missing section.
Depending on the event, there are different types of submissions.
PDF Portfolios
Video (MP4) products such as a storybook reading, etc.
Physical entries
Disqualifications will only occur if a required product is missing, such as the PDF Portfolio.
GO/NO GO: With each event, there are 1-3 questions asking if certain things are present. You just have to say "Answer is No" if something is missing and "Answer is Yes" if the uploaded product is there. "Answer is Yes" is the default
Sometimes a student will include required documents as part of their portfolio. For example, they include the Checklist in their portfolio instead of submitting a separate document. This is FINE. Please do not toggle the GO/NO GO for the item.
Rule Violations will deduct 20% of the overall points. If you give a rule violation, please explain why you felt the violation was warranted.
You do not need to calculate the 20%; the EMS does that for you, and it will be reflected in the final scores but not on the judge's score tally screen that you see. If you are unsure, just ask, and I will double-check that the violation exists.

You will score ONLY the portfolio or submitted Videos. The rubrics will indicate which sections you will score. YOU MUST enter a score of zero for any sections that will be judged onsite. The onsite judges will do the opposite so that your scores match up with those from an onsite judge to generate a wholly scored rubric.
You will score ONLY the onsite portions of the submissions. The rubrics will indicate which sections you will score. YOU MUST enter a zero score for any sections judged online. The online judges will do the opposite so that your scores will match up with the scores from an online judge to generate a wholly scored rubric.
In this video, you will be introduced to your Judge's Account. From this account, you can access all entries to judge, see your list of completed rubrics, access the event rules, or make corrections to already judged rubrics.
In this guide, you will be shown how to open the list of entries to judge, select an entry, look at its submissions, and complete the rubric.

In this video, you will be shown how to go back to an entry that you have already judged in order to make corrections to the rubric. This comes in very handy if you need to adjust your scoring after seeing a few entries. It is also used to tweak rubric values in order to break ties.

You can use this method to look at your entries without opening them up in the Rubric. Once opened in the Rubric, you have to enter scores. This allows you to get a feel for applying the rubric points and also to budget your time to avoid becoming overwhelmed if there are many entries.
